Cell-free expression using Phenomics™ technology 

Protéus invented and patented Phenomics™,  a powerful cell-free technology for expressing functional proteins. Cell-free expression has been developed to overcome the limits of cell-based expression, permiting to obtain labeled proteins (with radio-isotopes or heavy-isotopes), difficult-to-express proteins (e.g cytotoxic proteins) or rapid protein expression as required in high-throughput screening assays.

Our Phenomics™  platform includes several cell-free systems, prokaryotic (E.coli, Bacillus, Pseudomonas) and eukaryotic (Trichoderma). We have developed specific vectors for each system and proprietary PheMix™ translation reagents.

At Protéus, we want cell-free expression to be a user-friendly technology. Therefore, Phenomics™ does not require any dedicated instrument or consumable. Additionally, we have reached such a high level of optimisation of the technology that Phenomics™ can now be implemented using a straightforward one-pot protocol, hence dramatically simplifying the use of the technology for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic Phenomics™ systems.
