Protein production services
Facts about protein expression
- Each protein is unique
- No universal expression system enables the expression of every proteins
- The choice of the expression system depends on the final objective (e.g : enzymes need to be active, whereas antigens for immunisation just need to be soluble and easily purified).
Cell-based expression services
Protéus has acquired a considerable expertise in using microorganisms for producing hundreds of proteins from the most diverse origins (human, vegetal and microbial).
We have developed tools and strategy enabling expression with very high success rates: over 80% of these proteins have been correctly expressed in our systems.
Protéus has designed Prod'line™ cell-based expression services for producing the proteins you need for your research projects:
Selected production hosts
Prod'line ™ cell-based expression services rely on a selection of microbial hosts:
Escherichia coli : Gram (-), most frequently used host for recombinant protein expression.
Widely used for producing therapeutic proteins and vaccines.
Bacillus subtilis : Gram (+), non-pathogenic, GRAS strain that is a major source of food enzymes. High production and secretion yields. Endotoxin-free.
Widely used in food industry and more recently applied for therapeutic proteins.
Pseudomonas fluorescens : Gram (-), non-pathogenic, GRAS strain. High production yields with extended processing capabilities. Endotoxin-free.
Increasingly used for the production of therapeutic proteins in cGMP conditions.
Yarrowia lipolytica : hemiascomycete yeast, GRAS strain. High secretion yields, with eukaryotic type post-translational modifications (no hyper glycosylation). Non-pathogenic and endotoxin-free.
Suitable for bioremediation, food application and for producing therapeutic proteins and vaccines.
